Legacy Company announces shortlist for first family neighbourhood

The Olympic Park Legacy Company has announced a shortlist of developers in line to build the first neighbourhood on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park following the Games.

Several developers are under consideration for the delivery of Chobham Manor, which the Legacy Company says will mark a return to London’s “traditional family neighbourhoods” of terraced and mews houses within tree-lined avenues. Located between the Athletes’ Village and VeloPark, 70% of the neighbourhood’s 800 homes will be classed as family housing, whilst 40% will feature gardens.

Shortlisted bidders are:

East Thames and Countryside Properties
Barratt Homes and Le Frak Organisation
St James Group
Swan Housing Association, Urban Splash, Yoo & Mace
Notting Hill Housing, United Housing and HTA
Taylor Wimpey and London & Quadrant

The candidates have until the end of February 2012 to submit outline proposals, after which time the Legacy Company will start a competitive dialogue process with three favoured bidders.

A development partner should be appointed by summer 2012 so that the first homes will be complete by 2014.

Andrew Altman, the Legacy Company’s chief executive, commented that Chobham Manor had generated a strong response.
