Part F Ventilation Testing
It is now a requirement to test ventilation systems in all new build developments, as per Part F of the Building regulations.
Build Energy is well placed to carry out Part F ventilation testing – as it can usually be covered at the same time as your air permeability or sound insulation testing.
What is Part F Ventilation Testing?
Part F of the Building Regs applies to ventilation requirements, and was updated in December 2010.
In reality we are only recently seeing it’s enforcement and many of our clients are now requiring testing on their developments.
Ventilation designers adhere to certain good practice and design when specifying ventilation systems.
These may be simple background and intermittent fans, or whole house mechanical extract systems with heat recovery.
Part F testing validates air flow measurements for the new dwelling and ensures that the system has been configured correctly. Testing should be carried out by a BPEC qualified engineer using UKAS calibrated equipment.
