We are pleased to see completion of another great project from Dorset-based contractor Greendale Construction, with whom we work regularly across the region.
The project off Castle Lane West in Bournemouth, is the second phase of new-build bungalows delivered for Bournemouth War Memorial Homes, a charity that has provided affordable housing to ex-service veterans in Bournemouth since 1948. Designed by Footprint Architects, the scheme provides four new two-bedroom, single-storey, step-free bungalows on the site of previously underused garages, named in honour of a former resident who cared for the charity’s gardens and allotments for many years.
The bungalows are designed to exceed current Building Regulations and target net zero in operation, combining photovoltaic panels and air source heat pumps with a fabric-first approach to the building envelope.
Build Energy carried out air permeability testing to confirm the scheme’s air tightness performance – all four plots achieved results below 5m³/(h·m²), comfortably within the Part L limit – alongside Part L SAP Assessments and EPCs, and Sound Insulation Testing under Part E. Being based in nearby Christchurch, we were able to arrange testing at short notice alongside the rest of the compliance package – the same local service we provide across Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire.
Congratulations to Greendale, Footprint Architects and the whole team on delivering more high-quality, low-carbon homes for local veterans.
